However, continuing, if this person is knowledgeable and maybe works in computers you will probably be OK in this arrangement for a while...until they get sick of you sponging off them and they stop taking your calls.
If this person is merely "better than you" at computers then you are about to enter a world of pain.
Many a well-meaning friend has destroyed important data beyond all repair.
Then we are expected to perform miracles. Sometimes we are successful. Sometimes we aren't.
If it is important call in your favourite computer expert and emphasise to them to take the low-risk route to solving your disaster BEFORE you let your "friend" do anything.
