If your computer is freezing/slowing when navigating
to a network folder "Initializing folders" to save or open a file then you may want to try the following procedure to fix it:
Open the File Explorer as shown below...
You will see a list of "Mapped Network Drives" - in the picture above they are H: and Z:
Note the special icon they have kind of like a pipe leading to the drive.
The thing that is slowing down your opens and saves is broken "Mapped Network Drives" i.e. where they are looking doesn't exists at present.
Broken network drives will have the same icon but it will have a red cross over it.
IMPORTANT: Do not perform the following procedure on mapped network drives you still use be they at the office or home (if applicable).
If a mapped drive, say Z: is still in use and should be working, but has a red cross on its icon, click on it to see its contents.
Sometimes the icon will show the red cross in error if you simply not been to that drive recently.
If no contents are displayed and you get an error message we need to "Disconnect The Mapped Drive".
Select My Computer and the right click to see this list as shown below
Left click on "Disconnect network drive"
You will be given a list of broken drives as shown below.

Remove them.
The problem should be gone now.
If, however, you have a mapped drive from home and one from work, then you are ALWAYS going to have a broken mapping because the computer can't be in two places at once.
You can choose to live with it, or remove and reconnect the mapping each time at each location as required.
I think most people don't have a network at home like this so you should be able to remove all broken mapped drives without an issue.
